Hieu and Thu’s wedding was the first wedding I shot in 2020 and it was AMAZING. This was my first time photographing a Vietnamese Tea Ceremony and I have to say, I really enjoyed it. I was working alongside Minh and he explained to me the different things happening in the ceremony and the meaning behind the ritual.
Please take my explanation with a grain of salt as I don’t want to potentially mislead anyone with misinformation. 😅

As the morning stated, I was with Hieu talking about PUBG and how he was feeling about the the upcoming day. He was thrilled that he’s about to become Thu’s husband and they are about to start the next step of their journey together. The day they’ve been waiting for is finally here and they feel blessed to have their friends and family here to celebrate their major milestone. As Hieu finished getting ready, we went to Thu’s house where he and his groomsmen brought over the dowry for the Tea Ceremony.

The way Hieu and Thu were honoring their ancestors by remembering them and asking for their blessings reiterates the importance of family in Vietnamese culture.

The reception following the Tea Ceremony was phenomenal! The beautiful decor and florals provided by Dream Weddings & Events were PERFECT. Thank you to everybody involved in making this a literal Dream Wedding and thank you Hieu and Thu for this marvelous occasion that brought us all together.
